ActionCOACH first invented the idea of “business coaching” in the early 1990's and is now the world’s largest business coaching company. So this means Hamish is one of the most experience business coaches on the planet because he was one of the first coaches to start with the first coaching compnay! Hamish has been coaching business owners in all sectors of business, with much success. Several of his clients have won business awards. He is the ActionCOACH “N.Z. Business Coach of the Year 2003”, and was awarded one of only two “Entrepreneur Coach” awards issued by ActionCOACH world-wide. Hamish has a wealth of experience in the ownership or management of a number of different businesses from corporate through to small-business, plus management experience in the public sector. He was the youngest divisional manager in the Social Welfare Department at age 24 where he worked from 1976 to 1984. He also spent one year overseas working in the H.O. of a UK corporate. In 1984 he left the Public Service to work in dry stock and goat farming. He was involved in the management of some of the largest farming operations of their type in the world including the largest embryo transplant program at that time. He managed farms in the North and South Island, In 1989 Hamish, and his wife Louise, leased a 700 acre hill country farm near Cambridge to farm 2500 cashmere goats and graze 450 dairy heifers. In 1991 Hamish started a contract dairy heifer grazing business called Premier Grazing Ltd to manage the relationship between dairy farmers and heifer graziers with the aim of rearing better replacement cows for the nation’s dairy herds. Premier Grazing took responsibility for the quality control of thousands of dairy heifers and guaranteed their growth performance and health. This involved gathering electronic stock performance data from field agents throughout N.Z. for the monitoring of the stock’s health and weight gain. Hamish wrote the unique computer program that produced the monitoring reports. The business grew to $3 million turnover after 4 years, and had up to 18,000 livestock grazing. In 1994 Wrightson Ltd purchased Premier Grazing. Hamish continued as the General Manager of the Wrightson Grazing division that was formed from his company. In 1998 he left to start his own business and become a business coach with ActionCoach. Hamish completed a Masters Degree in Business Administration with Distinction in 1998 during which he made a special study of marketing and value chain management in the N.Z. agricultural industry. He also has a Certificate in Farm Management. Hamish lives in Tauranga with his wife Louise of 26 years and they have 4 children. Hamish now has business-coaching clients in the Waikato/Bay of Plenty, and Australia and the UK. He and Louise have recent interests in other businesses and own a kiwifruit orchard and small farm.
